Jim Etzel
Jim became Sport Oregon CEO on January 1, 2018.  A native Oregonian, University of Portland graduate and the founder of ETZEL Agency, Jim brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in sports and event marketing and management.  Jim has a proven track record of winning major-league event business and cultivating fruitful partnerships with diverse organizations and properties like ESPN, the College Football Playoff and Major League Soccer.

Maika Janat-Vennemann
Director of Marketing and Events

Maika joined Sport Oregon in March 2019 to serve in the newly created role of Director of Marketing and Events.  Maika oversees the organization’s marketing and branding initiatives, as well as the management of owned events.  Prior to joining Sport Oregon, Maika excelled in multiple roles over a 13-year career with global event production company satis&fy, ascending to President of the company’s North America office.

Lauren Elgee
Sports Tourism Manager

Lauren joined Sport Oregon in February 2017, following roles with the Washington State Senate and Simplex Aerospace.  She prepares event bids and manages industry and government partnerships, as well as Sport Oregon’s Young Professionals Board.  Lauren is a Portland native, and graduate of Cleveland High School and Whitman College, where she was a member of the cross country team.

Alex Rudd
Program Manager, Events and Community Impact

Alex joined Sport Oregon in February 2017, following a position with Metropolitan Family Service.  She manages the TrackTown Youth League, as well as other youth program partnerships, and also leads event management and marketing for the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon.  Alex is originally from North Bend, Washington, and is a graduate of Southern Oregon University, where she was a member of the track and field and cross country teams.

Hannah Roxas
Event Coordinator

A recent graduate of the University of Portland’s Pamplin School of Business, Hannah started with Sport Oregon as an intern in April 2018.  Hannah helped plan and produce the Oregon Sports Awards show last year and is now providing planning and operational support to several events, including the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon and TrackTown Youth League.
