In March 2026, we shared something Oregon has never had before. A first-of-its-kind statewide look at the economic impact of spectator sports.
In partnership with ECOnorthwest and presented by PNC Bank, Sport Oregon released a landmark study showing that spectator sporting events generated at least $1.7 billion in economic output across Oregon in 2024, supporting approximately 8,700 jobs statewide.
This is just the starting point. The study focuses on a defined slice of the sports economy and does not yet capture participatory events, youth tournaments, or many community-based competitions across the state. The takeaway is clear. The true impact of sports in Oregon is even greater. This report creates a baseline to help guide future investment and growth in sports tourism.
